The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 is the successor to the S Duos model, with which Samsung has entered the middle class segment. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 doesn’t stand out much from the Galaxy S in terms of its features, but with its affordable price it does a pretty good job. However, in a world where competitors are emerging like plants, even the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 cannot remain confident in its own position for long. First of all, we mean the Lumia 520 model, which probably offers more for a lower price.
Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 design
This phone is practically identical to all the others. It is almost indistinguishable from other Galaxy devices, and therefore from its predecessor. The body of the phone is made of plastic, which, considering the price and the design philosophy of the manufacturer, is no surprise. Matte plastic looks quite good at first glance, but as you use the phone more and more, you will realize that its quality is not at the level of more expensive models. The surface of the phone is a real magnet for prints and various impurities, and even for scratches. Fortunately, the surface can be replaced, although if we want to be realistic, we will have to admit that no spectacular quality can be expected for this money.
The front of the phone is covered with glass, while only the handset at the top and the home key at the bottom of the phone emerge from this smooth surface. At the top there is also a VGA camera, while there is no LED notification, which is a bit strange. The sides are lined with gray plastic, which leaves the impression of more expensive brushed metal.
The screen itself is made in TFT technology and has a generally accepted average resolution of 480 × 800 pixels. A diagonal of 4 inches is sufficient for basic operations. Many are inclined to say that it is ideal to use (and they are right), while the phone itself with dimensions of 121.5 x 63.1 x 10.6 mm is affordable for every hand, and the weight of 118 grams represents a lower limit for this type of phone.
Unlike the AMOLED screen, this one doesn’t have such a bright picture as expected. The pixel density and resolution correspond to the previous model, but the difference is noticeable in terms of viewing angles, which are quite good, but also in the image itself, which is quite clean. All in all, it’s a decent screen, with slightly lower visibility in daylight.
Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 camera
With a 5MP camera, the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 does not stand out from most phones of this range. However, large differences in the performance of all of them are noticeable. This camera can be said to be a slightly pleasant surprise here, because it takes quite decent photos, but also videos, which exceed expectations from a low-priced phone. The camera is equipped with standard options, with the remark that it is not really a champion in speed, so it should be given time to take photos, but also to upload already taken photos.
Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 Specification
Compared to its predecessor, the new Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 has an upgraded dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. In addition, the phone is equipped with enhanced graphics, so it is also suitable for fans of video games. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 comes with 768MB of RAM, which is unfortunately not enough to make everything run like honey and milk. Still, what’s there is. Another drawback is the lack of memory. The initial 4GB, of which only about 2.16GB is available, is simply not enough for any more serious work. Fortunately, the phone has a microSD port so it can expand up to a maximum of 64GB. From the name of the phone itself, it is clear that it is a model with two cards. It comes with Samsung’s usual Smart dual SIM option.
Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 battery and conclusion
Like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 has a 1500mAh battery, so the battery life is at the same level. If you use one card on a 3G network with moderate use of the Internet, the phone lasts for one day without any problems. Both cards consume more power, which is logical.
With its low price, the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 is intended primarily for those who buy their first Android phone and those who want a dual-card phone. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 offers quite decent build quality, a solid screen, a slightly above-average camera and battery life.
