It is often the case that the sentence “vacation on the island” provokes a feeling of ecstasy and fantasy. In any case, the isolation from the rest of the world that the island provides and the exotic tone contributes to the connotation of a magical vacation.
Thailand consists of several islands, which differ from each other in many ways: they look different, provide a different feeling, and the experience can be completely different. They are located in different locations and the roads to them are different, and the period of the tourist season varies . We will provide here a brief description of the most important islands in Thailand.
It happens that tourists have a certain image in their head of what the islands should look like, which does not match the real situation at the destination itself. Then a situation arose that after spending money, time and effort they experienced disappointment. If you are planning to travel to Thailand, it is important that you get to know the place and do not set too high expectations, and probably the best choice for a travel agency to Thailand.
Urban islands
These are islands with a developed tourist infrastructure, landscaped beaches, shopping malls… They are very similar to the famous resorts on the mainland.
Phuket Island
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. It is located in the Andaman Sea on the west coast. If the term island fascinates you, know that Phuket is less than 100 meters from the mainland, and is connected by a small bridge. Phuket used to be very lush with flora and fauna, but today it is a commercialized tourist destination.
Many resorts are not close to the beach, so check where the hotel is before you book. Also know that Phuket is quite far from the tourist attractions in the south of Thailand, so it cannot be taken as a base for exploring the south.
Season on the island of Phuket: for those who would like to visit Phuket, the season is from November to May.
In general, it is best to leave Phuket for the end of the tour, if you really want to visit it.
Ko Samui Island
Ko Samui is a relatively large island, located on the east coast of Thailand. It has a handful of beaches and bays along the entire length of its coast – Chaweng, Lamai, Nicki, Bohput and others. Each beach provides a slightly different feeling. Be sure to visit the rich and magnificent Temple of the Great Buddha.
The most famous beaches on the island are Lamai and Bohput – these are large and long beaches, with fine pebbles instead of soft sand. They are quite similar, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges.
Season on the island of Ko Samui: from January to September.
Basically, Ko Samui is an urban, landscaped island. The beaches are average and satisfactory. Suitable for those who are looking for a vacation on a well-kept island and who want to go out and go shopping. It is considered a better island than Phuket.
These are large islands that are not too commercialized and where you can find very beautiful landscapes.
Koh Chang
Koh Chan is a small island, but very beautiful. It is close to Bangkok and easily accessible. The right atmosphere for the last days of vacation. There is only one road on the island, so it is quite impossible to get lost. Rent a motorbike and go exploring.
The nearest dock beach is White Sand beach. Classic tourist beach, full of tourists, noisy, expensive. A much better choice is Lonely beach in the very south of the island.
Season on the island of Koh Chang : from November to April (by no means go in the period July – August, precipitation is then measured in meters!)
Koh Phangan
Commercialization is not yet in full swing here, which makes Koh Phangan a real island for relaxation (apart from Full Moon parties) and a great destination for those who just want to lie on the beach.
On the south coast you will find Haad Rin beach – this is the most visited beach, where there are the most young people and adventurers. Here you will find a lot of restaurants, cafes, shops… This beach is quite noisy when parties are held and quite quiet when they are not held.
There are many beaches and bays on the island, and in each of them you will find many resorts. Know that in addition to parties and lounging on the beaches, you do not have much to do and see on the island.
Season on Koh Phangan Island: January to March + July to August
Koh Lanta
In the north of the island you will find Baan Saladan, this former fishing village has over time become a lively place to relax. You can visit many restaurants, cafes, markets…
On the northwest coast, not so far from Baan Saladan, you will find Khlong Dao beach. Three kilometers of resorts, restaurants, pubs. Ideal for those who want to spend a holiday in a lively atmosphere. Don’t miss Tham Khao Maikaeo, a network of caves that dates back millions of years.
Season on the island of Koh Lanta : from November to April.
In addition to these islands, there are many other small islands in Thailand that are a real treasure of this country. The most popular are Koh Lipe, Koh Samed, Koh Tao, Koh Phayam, Koh Yao Noi, Koh Phiphi and Koh Talu. We will single out Koh Lipe as the most beautiful.
Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe is perhaps the most beautiful island in Thailand. The island was nicknamed the Maldives of Thailand. Like other great places, Koh Lipe is well known and popular among tourists.
It is located at the southern end of Thailand, on the border of NP Tarutao. Koh Lipe has the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Its crystal clear, turquoise waters, along with 30 islands and hundreds of coral reefs in the surrounding area make it an ideal place for snorkeling.
Season on the island of Koh Lipe: from November to May.
