How to Get a Business Idea

In this article, I answer the question on how to get a business idea. Lately, everyone has been telling me something that they would also like to start their own business – “only” they lack a business idea.
So where to find this “big” idea?

  1. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
See what you know, what you are good at, or what marketers would say – do a SWOT analysis (S-strengths, W-weaknesses, O-opportunities; T-threats) – you have every week in Leader on the example of small firms if you don’t know where and how to start with it.
  2. INTERESTS
What are you interested in, what do you care about?
Let’s say I care about great customer service. This is how Skype was created.
  3. HOBBIES
What do you do in your free time – there are probably still people in the world who have that same hobby. What do they need?
  4. LIFE EXPERIENCE
Believe what bothers you bothers others. I would, for example, look at playroom and many other things for children UP to 3 years, because everything is made for children from 3 years. If you have a child under the age of three, you are hardly welcome anywhere.
  5. TRENDS
Ok, you cracked the 4 things mentioned above and didn’t come up with anything. You still have to ride some of the trends today:

a) time is money – everything that saves time that we all have less and less. What new can you offer in that part?

b) eco-bio… madness for environmental awareness. If they could convince me to use natural makeup, so natural it can’t be seen because this other one is poison… can you sell a similar spike to customers. Believe me, there will be more of them than you think.

c) quality of service – individual approach – can you be more helpful, faster, better than someone already on the market?

d) the population is getting older – Klaus Kobjoll, author of the book Heartiness as a Commodity, has an apparatus in his hotel and a doctor on duty in case one of the guests has a heart attack. What can you offer?

e) wellness – spa – health. As soon as I heard the word spa a couple of years ago, I knew it was a hit – it was going to be a boom. People want to feel good and look good. Alternative methods are becoming more popular, stress management is the word that sells everything.
50% of people are obese – losing weight is a good business, children are getting heavier… what can you think of here…
