It is always a real pleasure to watch phones like this, regardless of whether you intend to buy them or just “look around”. When a phone has a specification worth hundreds of euros out of pocket, then that is one thing. Quite another when you have a cheap model, without pretensions to fame and popularity, with a design that casts a shadow on those big and expensive devices. Well, one of them is the Nokia 515 – a dual SIM phone designed with style and made with an aluminum body, with a protected and slightly rounded screen. The Nokia 515 is a phone that keeps the memory of the glory of the famous Nokia OS marked 40 fresh.
Nokia 515 design
The slogan Nokia has chosen is “Designed to impress”. And it really is. The phone is made in two colors and we must immediately say that white is far more “fancy”, while the black variant could be suitable for a slightly older and more serious population, because it has a kind of traditional charm.
Regardless of the colors, the phone is really special. It is not uncommon to see a phone that costs a very reasonable price, without being tucked into an aluminum cover. On the front, the Nokia 515 looks like a really simple and modern phone, with a classic alphanumeric keypad and the Nokia inscription above the speakers. When it comes to the background, the Nokia 515 looks even more elegant and somehow resembles the models of the former Sony Ericsson, which is a compliment in itself.
The camera, LED flash, and speaker in the lower-left corner found their place there. If the phone was not a classic one, when you hold it in your hand, you would surely think that it is a new premium device, which is not strange because the metal case is still the privilege of a small number of models.
Nokia 515 screen
As we have already said, this phone has a slightly distorted screen, which Nokia claims is durable and easy to “read” in sunlight. We didn’t have the opportunity to put it at 35 degrees under the hot summer sun, but that’s why it showed well under this autumn. Besides, the display doesn’t bring anything special. The 2.4-inch diagonal and the aforementioned Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection are average things. But, hand on heart, from a phone like the Nokia 515 and no more is expected. If that means anything to you, the screen has a resolution of 240 × 320 pixels.
Nokia 515 specification
What worries all current and future owners of classic Nokia phones is how long the battery lasts. The answer is mostly a lot, so it is the same here. The Nokia 515 has a 1200mAh battery, so it should come as no surprise that it provides about 10 hours of talk time and over 900 hours in standby mode.
Apart from the battery, the Nokia 515 also offers a very good 5MP camera, which is the only one on this device. It is equipped with an LED flash and is able to make videos in QVGA resolution. The possibility of the so-called burst and panorama mods, which is good.
When it comes to memory, the Nokia 515 offers a barely noticeable memory as expected. With 256MB you won’t be able to do anything, so buying a microSD card is imperative. With it, you will be able to get a maximum of 32GB.
Of the connections, the Nokia 515 offers a 3G connection, but no Wi-Fi, which is probably the biggest drawback of the phone. At a time when wireless networks are being offered to us at every step, that is a significant drawback. Admittedly, the Nokia 515 is not a phone of some special surf capacity. It is well equipped with social networking applications and it will work nicely regardless of Wi-Fi.
Nokia 515 Conclusion
If you’re still looking for proven Nokia phones, you’re in luck because Nokia still makes them (we just don’t know how long). The Nokia 515 works as a watch and looks like a diamond. It costs like a slightly more expensive trip to the city. These are all reasons why this phone is imposed in response to the question of what to buy for little money, and what will be reliable and durable for me…
